Work History. Started picking fruit in grade school. This continued off and on through high school. I pick strawberries, rasberries, cucumbers, apricots, plums, cherries. Cut grass for locals for a couple of summers in Junior High. The high point of this was making enough money to pay the morgage on the house for the folks for a couple of months. Worked loading trucks for a roofing company. I lasted a month or so. At a 120 lbs I just was not cut out for this. I remember loading over 100 kegs of tar one night. Plus other crap all by hand. I messed up though and put some of the stuff on the wrong trucks. I was so tired that I slept in a ditch before riding my bicycle home. Worked at a gas station one summer. Bucked hay as a pickup worker. Stacked boxes of apples at a fruit packing plant. Dishwasher Part owner of a Telephone Answering Exchange. The messages from the Bail Bondsman were great. The stuff from the Ambulance Sevice left me with nightmares for a few years. This was pre 911 so people would call us direclty. We also did calls for a tow truck outfit. It was amazing since sometimes people would get in real nasty single car accidents and just call us. Worked getting wet grain out of silo's. One of my tuffest jobs. This stuff gets incredibly hot so we would work around the clock to save as much grain as possible. It was like working out in a sauna. One guy lost enough weight, in three days, that he ended up in the hopital. He went home to eat and blacked out. His mom got a bit upset for some reason. Taco Joint. Worked building windows then transfered to deliveries. We delivered any kind of door or window. Working outside during the Colorado winters can be an experience. If only I had known about synthetics. Worked nights as a busboy. Worked in Sporting Goods at Kmart while going to DeVry. I started Acuson late 1985 as a Test Technician. About 7 years later I became an Engineering Technician. I worked in engineering for about 8 years. I then then transfered into IT and have been working in this dept for a few years as a UNIX Systems Administrator. When I started Acuson was about 150 people. In 2000 Siemens bought Acuson. Siemens employs about 450,000. |
