Coe - Oct 12 2008
« on: October 13, 2008, 02:27:32 PM »
Rode Coe Sunday with Delbomber and mudworm.

Mudworm and I got there a few minutes early and quickly unloaded the demo Ibis Mojo's so they would be on display when Delbomber drove up.  Just a few minutes after we arrived two more vehicles arrived and both of those guys had Ibis Mojo’s also.  It seemed we had a regular convention.

Two of the guys were regulars so I started to quiz them on the good trails.  I tried to get is all straight in my head but after he went on for about 15 minutes I think I lost a bit.  It turned out his name was Jay.  He started riding 8 years ago after his son got him into Mountain Biking at the age of 52.  He estimated that he rides about 2,000 miles a year at Coe.  All I could say was holy sheep dip.

We decided to do a bit of exploring instead of my usual but never attained goal of Mississippi lake.

We found a real good trail Tim Trail but rode it in the wrong direction.  I has some good drops and role overs.  All of us were excited on the find and just a bit disappointed in not getting the full pleasure since we were riding it in the wrong direction.  We got a bit lost but while Delbomber and I were going over the map Mudworm walks over points at a post that says pond .2 miles then points at the map where the trail says pond .2 miles and says were are right here.

Ok, point settled we  continue riding up in the correct direction.  We do a bit of a loop and go down a short cut single track and while consulting the map again Jay rides up.  We chat for a bit then he leads us on a tour back to the parking lot down Bowl and Lymon Wilson trail.  This is makes for a fairly casual 12 mile day.

The next trip will be Mississippi Lake about 40 miles or so.

What time did you get there?

I rode up to there on my road bike with Joan and some other friends from the San Jose Bike Club. Any chance you saw us suffering up there?   ;D

Bear Valley on Saturday cold windy about 33 degrees . Dust under the snow in the shade but perfect in the sun;  A couple of shots form The Ring.

Trails should be perfect the next couple of weeks.

F'ueco,
We only saw a couple of road bikes but we drove into the Hunting Hollow instead of the Headquarters entrance.

Uncle Stinky,
We are planning Coe this coming weekend but I bet you can get Delbomber up there the following weekend I know he has been planning on getting up there before the snows.

Awesome pics.

The pic's do not show up on his post.  Maybe because I am at work.  I will try it at home with my eyes open.
