TR: Pinnacles Special Spring Edition
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:00:25 PM »
Because we returned home very late from yesterday's ride, we had a late start to the Pinns this morning. Having had to stop at Mud's work did not help either.  It was a short day for us at the Pinns because we wanted to get home at a reasonable hour to get important stuff done such as posting trip reports.  But that did not stop us from taking pictures of the spring blossoms though.

Inch by inch, I will get there.

In case it was not clear, besides playing with the wild flowers in the Pinns, we actually climbed too. (F4, this is for you.) Although you only need one hand to count them all.

Nice photos.  Wish I had your photography skills.  Spent 9 of last 12 days climbing in j-tree and the flowers are going off.  J-trees, yuccas, red cactus flowers, carpets of wildflowers.  the most spectacular I've ever seen it.
let's get that ride scheduled before it gets too hot.

 :blush2:

The key is ignore the odd looks on the passer-bys' faces when you climb up some loose bank, kneel in front of some flowers so tiny that Mud needs his reading classes to see.  When you take a bunch, a few of them are bound to come out.

Oh, and this reminded me of the looks on the hikers faces when we came out of the hole at the base of Ranger Bolt. Lacking body fat (not meant as a brag), Mud and I both get cold easily. So, I had my fleece hat, down jacket, thermo pants on when we got out on the trail and Mud was in no fewer layers either. A big group walked by us and they were in their tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts. They looked at us as if we just came out of hibernation.

Gee, I thought you guys spent the whole day taking pictures of flowers.

Squiddo is jealous you 2 were there and he was stuck with me at the gym.

Okay, squiddo, I have to ask... what are you talking about?  We know that F4 is solid and all that, but what does this sentence mean? Where is the context?

Even Mud wasn't sure.

HA, got ya did I? F4 told me (in fact he tried to recruit me to come along) to get up at the butt crack one hot August day. The project, drive out to the Pinns, hike up to Marmot and get some photos for the guide. No climbing just "click, click and sweat, sweat".

Shit, I was back home and IN bed by 10am or was it 9am. It wasn't hot. I did get to see a cool reflection of Taburcio's in the resv....just needed someone leading it.

It was actually June (longest days). He went down just to get the photos of Marmot Rocks with sun on them! Thanks again Factor.
