I'm a classical musician, amateur but not too bad. Jazz has always amazed and intimidated me. It's definitely not intended for snot removal. I recommend the 1812 Overture for that. The cannons work every time.

Thanks to this thread (and a re-awakenied interest in my jazz music), I've listened more than once to Manhattan Transfer's "Extensions" album in the last week.

Jazz, pseudo-jazz, almost-jazz. Call it what you want, but that album absolutely rocks (pun intended). Their version of Birdland (with vocals) has always been my favorite (Weather Report's is second favorite).
