Brad, you are no doubt familiar with Eisenhower's letter below, the one that was never delivered:

"Our landings in the Cherbourg-Havre area have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based upon the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone."

There are a number of people in national politics who need to have it tattooed in a prominent place. Responsibility is leadership.

A dumb explanation I made up when Johnny asked me what happened to my toes. I said the Night Beaver chewed on them. He had nightmares that night and the next morning wanted to know if the Night Beaver was real and so the story was embellished and so on.

He is sleeping fine now.

We changed the grit today in the two tumblers to pre-polish before leaving town. Johnny is stoked about everything to do with rocks, gems, and mining. We stopped at a rock shop outside of Mariposa. He must've asked the shop owner a hundred questions.

JC may dare to join in for BLM exploration SE of Pinnacles soon as it's not blazing.

BLM geology/rock collecting and target shooting with Johnny and JC is on the Autumn schedule.
