This name is good. it's even better when paired with how it came about.
Mud and Noal and I were climbing together. Noal's up placing a first anchor bolt on a new route, Dennis and I are at the base.
I comment to Dennis about my friend Jennifer, who's just signed up for Mudn'Crud. I ask if he's cleared her under her chosen moniker: "B.A.P.".
"Yes," he says.
Noal chimes in with: "we need a label like that for all the Santa Cruzians."
Dennis' next comments named the route: "No, we need one for the Sonora Passians." Significant pause.... "Snob Job."
That was it, instantly.
Snob Job 5.10a**
I'm not allowed to add it to the new route's list yet though. Dennis and Noal have an absolutely brilliant looking, hard 5.11 project 30 feet away. I think they're being paranoid about someone climbing Snob Job and then "stealing" their project. On the other hand, they put one hell of a lot of work into this thing, and I think Mud will send it this season (I watched him TR it from the side while I was drilling the second anchor bolt - what an effort!!). So, unlisted it will remain, perhaps to be added when they finish its sister route (this season, do it!).
