For the second weekend in a row, I rode out to Mississippi Lake. From the lake, I went on to Bear Mountain (via Bear Spring Trail East). A nearly 50 mile day! It was sunny but the temps were nice so no suffering. What It Was Like Out There™:
At the camp-out last weekend, some were talking about the Bear Spring Trail which intrigued me enough to want to go check it out. Here are a few empty trail photos:
I really enjoyed this trail, the grades never got crazy steep (I could pedal it all) and it was never too overgrown. Near the lake, there was evidence of recent trailwork (brushing). Probably by some of last week's campers. Thanks guys!
The trail ends at the gate on Countyline Road @ Bear Mountain Road. The sight of that gate reminded me, for some reason, that the Coe Monstercross ride would be coming through here next weekend. Hmmmm, should I leave a message? "Monstercross" is a lot letters to write with rocks…
I began with just " M† ". M for monster and † for cross but it really looks like " Mt " as in the abbreviation for mountain. Kinda lame and I almost erased it but instead added "Coe" hoping that would help:
Shhhhhh until next week, okay?
From the return trip, one more shot of Bear Spring Trail East:

The 142nd photo of a fallen Pine on Live Oak Spring Trail that I've ever posted:
The 143rd with the added element of Mr Coe saying "Ha, ha, you worked on the road and the next day I throw a tree across it!":

After the ride, I visited Paul and Chris' camp-out at the Hunting Hollow windmill:
