High Peaks TR
« on: April 29, 2009, 07:25:39 PM »
vini, vidi ,escendo,
We came,  we saw, we climbed  that's about it...

The long version:
Knew Mr. Wyde was looking for a climber on Tuesday  The wife said I could have the day off so.....Some we made contact to meet on Monday night to meet on the East side of Pinns at the campground on Monday,  Too tired to drive there after work on Monday after climbing on SPH on Sunday http://sonorapassclimbing.com/smf/index.php?topic=1338.0    and a huge fund raiser for my kids' school on Saturday night ( my Thai dinner for 8 sold for 545 bucks).   Left town at 5:40 and drove 3 hours to upper parking lot.

We introduced our selves, only two cars in the lot and took off to high peaks,  14 pitches and 13 climbs, hit every where where there was no closed signs.  I was feeling relaxed and Mr Wyde agreed to be rope gun and led most of the pitches.  The one pitch I got was .7 R  first 2 bolts no hangers, second set of two bolts I would not have hung a poster on, then a chossy crack to  the summit.  From .3-.10a we were not into chasing numbers.   Awesome day of talking, climbing and trying to keep warm,  felt like winter with wind. A quick call to my dad  for his 82nd birthday and we quickly marched down to the parking lot.  Made it back before dark ate a bit with some good liquid.
The one photo from the day(I think it is a good one)

Back in the parking lot a pair of shoes we found in the morning were still there-  I took the shoes   Brutus took the socks- waste not want not.  Awesome day of climbing for me and  I learned a bunch,, I finally got to climb with someone a bit older than I. I learned from the master what I was most impressed with he could drink that Rock Star energy drink like a kid;  I am old school with coffee still.  Then the three hour drive home to a sandwich and a big beer.

Look out the man is dropping weight and is fit!!.
Cheers

Let me get this straight...Uncle Stinky and Brutus are the only ones climbing at the Pinns? Not even Mr Mud can make it out? Weak! I'm still milking my excuse of a new kid...

Cool to hear you got to climb at the High Peaks. I was perplexed by your e-mail...why would he climb at the high peaks and is there another set of High Peaks?

Nice!
I'm not worthy.

Nice one Jeff! 13 routes ain't too shabby, I always loved those days in the peaks all alone....well except for the chicken hawks and snakes.  I always wondered what the best "Tour" would be if one wanted to do a "Halfdome Day" in the peaks?  Where would you start/finish to optimize quality and speed?  Just ranting, hope ur well buddy!

Yeah, good job. Given who you were with, guessing/wondering if the 5.10a was perhaps Emancipation? Hard ass offwidth on Proclamation Pinnacle.
