Title: Park-mandated Weather Closures?
Post by: kurt on February 22, 2024, 01:05:09 PM
Obviously this is not prime CRSP climbing season, but this is the first time I've seen an explicit closure listed on the state park's website.  I'm presuming there's some sort of notice up at the trailheads as well, but I haven't been up there for a bit.

Is this a new thing -- ending the self-policed policy of "don't climb wet sandstone"?  Any word on what the criteria are for closed / open access?

I read on Mt Project that Castle Rock will now close climbing for a couple or few days after it rains. I guess they post signs after the rain.  Not sure how well they can or will enforce it and what the consequence is.  Its a permanent thing moving forward.

The stuff across the road in Sanbourn remains open to climbers discretion.

unreal.

Though at Garden of the Gods in Colorado, they have a strict enforced ban on climbing after rains/snows.
