Title: Ultra "Tour" of the High Peaks???
Post by: mungeclimber on April 30, 2009, 08:34:09 AM
To steal Mucci's idea...

What would be the ultra tour of the High Peaks?

first stab...

0. Anvil and Carousel on the way up
1. Photographer's Delight
2. Mechanic's Route
3. All the moderates on the Condors
4. All Sponge routes
5. All H&L routes
6. Dragonfly and surrounding crags
7. Emancipation on the way down the West side

8.  hitchhike back to the east side or hike back

* no guidebook in front of me

What if you had to climb one route per formation? Condor crags would yield what 300ft in one route?  Now it seems that accomplishing a Ultra tour may not be that difficult if you climbed let's say 3 routes on the condor craigs.

One route per formation.
2 stars or more per route chosen.
You must climb from one side to the other of the high peaks.

Just a start to the "Guidelines" any more?

Ultra....20 routes in a day. You'd have to include the shaft as well. Condor could yield a few.

I've always wanted to do routes on the West and Eastside, with a few at the high peaks along the way.

NICE!

I always wanted to do the whole shabang on a full moon.

Here is the ultimate choss climbers feast:

I guess you could start on Feather...

West Side
Balconies- LavaFalls
Machete- TwinkleToes-GaryPhyllis-Rock Round the Clock

High Peaks
Little Havelina
Eggs Shell
FreedomDome
.....what Munge Said

EastSide
Subterranean Tange
POD
Cantalope Death
Stupid Man
Jorgies
WetKiss/ Big Pucker
Others?
End on Pickpocket...

So....who's with me????

What? To include Feather Canyon? Yah, that throws off the route cuz you'd have to back track a bit.

Get dropped off at the W-side early in the am and hit it.

The idea is a Choss Climbers link up... Balconies, Machete, Condor, Monolith, Discovery and Pickpocket.

Now I didn't give a time frame....12hrs sounds reasonable.

Now that would be CCC Climber's cruisin choss.  Sounds like a worthy goal of 12 hours.  More like crawling back to car for me.

I was imagining having to pound a bunch of Advil.

Such a link up has to wait until the birds are done doing their thing.
